This is a stitch of six or seven photographs.
It is a wild place located in the Askja cauldron.
The lake in the foreground (Viti) is a hotspring that, at your own risk, you can swim in. The park recommends not to because of the very steep climb down (if something bad happens, you could be in serious trouble as you might not see anyone until the next day).
The lake in the background (Öskjuvatn) has an active volcanoe under it!
Cool place. A bit of a slog through muck and snow to get there, but worth the view. |
