As a fairly new member 9yesterday actually) just thought i'd share my fav digi trick with the istD - (probably not new to most) - I tend to take mainly landscapes and a lot of coastal sunsets -I live on an island_ and rather than use ND grads like i used to in photo shop i have started stitching composite images together to get the same effect.

With camera on a good tripod take first couple of exposures for sky then a few for usually darker forground back in photoshop covert the raw files and using layers and lasso tools cut and feather the foreground you want onto the sky you want....aka instant ND grad

That's a good trick, isn't it. I find digital darkroom, and especially anything involving layers, a real challenge. Most of the "how-to" articles I've found assume a certain level of knowledge and familiarity which I apparently lack.

Maybe I need to try to write a "how-to" myself for this, and we could workshop it here until we get it right.
